In Florida, winners of USD$250,000 or more remain anonymous for 90 days, after which time their name, city of residence and amount won are available for any third party to request.

Scammer, Freya Pearson swindled the trusting grandmother out of her winnings after lying about a non-profit organisation. Pearson was charged and sentenced to 5 years in Prison.
A lawsuit and contract killing
William ‘Bud’ Post thought all his Christmases had come at once when he won AUD$23 million in US lottery, but a year later he was back in debt. He spent his winnings on boats, houses, cars and a plane – even though he didn’t have his pilot’s license!
After his win he was sued by his girlfriend and it’s said his brother hired a hitman to kill him. If only he’d kept the news to himself.
